The displacement of cognitive and creative work is usually framed as an income problem, and the policy experiments are already running: retraining programs, basic income pilots, transition schemes. What they measure well is income. What they measure poorly is everything work was silently supplying besides income: identity, recognition, daily structure, the route from contribution to worth. And the instrument of the unsettling may prove the instrument of the anchoring: as memory persists and agents endure, AI approaches being not an episode in a life but a presence within one.

The work ahead runs on both sides. With sociologists and psychologists, on the meaning side of displacement: what transition policies should measure beyond wages, and which alternative grounds for self-composition actually bear weight. And with the frontier AI labs, on the question their systems now raise: what an AI that stays should be to the person it accompanies, and by what standard the relationship counts as having gone well. URNAVA does not arrive at that question empty-handed: its candidate is on this page, by name, built to be tested.

The ontology already runs on clinical ground: sleep, anesthesia, dementia, and hypothermic arrest are among its test cases. As medicine and neurotechnology move toward the substrate itself, the question of what counts as the same being stops being academic and starts appearing on consent forms.

The work ahead is conceptual research with clinicians, neuroscientists, bioethicists, and the engineers reaching into the substrate through gene therapy and neural interfaces. Further out wait copying, pausing, restoring, porting: forks where two outcomes look physically identical and are ontologically opposite, the continuation of a being or a new one wearing its memories. The task is the same at every distance: the distinctions arrive before the procedures do, and agreement is built in advance rather than improvised at the bedside.

The drift is not waiting for abundance to arrive; its early shapes appear wherever external structure recedes faster than internal orientation forms. And the removal of constraint has a foreseeable horizon: as immersive, generated worlds mature, they point toward experience of any content, produced without limit. Abundance not of goods only, but of experience itself. The question of what orients a life inside that abundance will be met first by the people building it, in design decisions, long before any theory arrives.

The work ahead is arriving early: turning the teleology into testable constructs and usable material. With the engineers of expansion, on space and multi-planetary programs, where the pull of what exceeds present reach already organizes real work. With educators, on what to teach when skills stop being scarce. And with the makers of generated worlds, on the question they will hold first: what makes an experience worth having when any experience can be had. The teleology brings its proposal to that table in advance. Not consolation for the transition, but equipment for it.
